It seems that the State of Florida is ground zero for the Swingers revolution that is sweeping the United States. According to the Kinsey Institute there are over 4 million active Swingers, in the United States, and over 3000 Swingers clubs world wide. A large portion of those clubs are in the United States, and it seems the bulk of those are in Florida. Todd Crawford, one of the owners of Adult dating site www.LoveVoodoo.com, which is an online Swingers community states, "Florida is the hottest market for Swinging in the United States. Many of our members want to keep a low profile in their home towns, but let loose when they get away. The combination of anonymity, beautiful weather, and scantily clothed women on the beach and cheap flights brings them to Florida to party!" Todd claims that there are slightly over 100 swingers clubs and over 10,00 active members listed on his site in Florida alone. There are also several conventions and hundreds of private house parties.
Most Swingers claim that that "The Lifestyle" as they refer to it, has helped their marriage, not hurt it. They say, the key to making the Lifestyle work is honesty, and that honestly trickles over to other areas of their relationship also, which also keeps their relationship exciting. Many participants in the Lifestyle do not swap partners as many would think. Some just want to go to events and clubs, and be in a sexual atmosphere. Many want to "play around", but save intercourse for their partner which they refer to as "Soft Swap". According to Elena Crawford, co-owner of LoveVodoo.com and Todd Crawford's wife. There are also lot of singles involved in the Lifestyle. "Many single women want casual sex and want to do it in a safe environment like a Swingers club. I know for me, I was curious to be with another woman, and thought the Lifestyle was the easiest way to have an experience. I think a lot of couples and singles get into swinging because they are bi-curious. I also would party with couples and single men. Actually Todd and I met in the Lifestyle!" She also claims that swingers are everywhere, teachers, doctors, your neighbors, and that you never know who is and who is not involved in the the Lifestyle.
There are two types of Swingers clubs in Florida. on-premise clubs and off-premise clubs. The on-premise clubs are private clubs where you have to pay an annual membership fee, and bring your own alcohol. These clubs seem like any other hot club in Florida other than they have private "play rooms" where couples and singles can have sex right in the club. The off premise clubs typically sell alcohol; however, there is no nudity or sexual activity allowed. In addition to the club scene many couples and single go with groups to wild adult resorts like Desire in Cancun Mexico and Hedonism in Negril Jamaica. While the Lifestyle may not be for everyone; however, it seems that it is in Florida to stay.
